A light wintry mix of freezing drizzle and snow is possible late tonight through Saturday morning before turning to all snow in the afternoon. Slick conditions are possible in the morning, especially on untreated roadways, bridges, residential or side streets, parking lots, and sidewalks. If planning to drive Saturday morning, give yourself extra time to reach your destination, and take it slow and drive or walk with extra caution.

Temperatures have dropped below zero and near ten below zero in some places this morning. Light winds have lead to sproadic wind chills of 20 below zero. There will be a short period through about 9 AM as winds increase and temperatures remain below zero when wind chills in the negative teens to negative 20 are possible. This is especially true in areas where snow fell on Wednesday. If you must go outside, dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves.

At 625 PM CST, snow showers were located near Stanwood and Olin, moving southeast at 15 mph. These will impact portions of Highway 30 between Mechanicsville and Lowden. HAZARD...Visibilities reduced rapidly to around 1/2 mile in snow. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACTS...Snow covered surfaces including roadways, bridges, overpasses, and sidewalks. Difficulty seeing while driving. Locations impacted include... Stanwood, Lowden, Wheatland, Toronto, Clarence, and Massillon Park.

Light snow is expected to develop across much of the area overnight and continue Friday morning before ending by Friday afternoon. Accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are expected mainly to the south and east of a Kahoka, Missouri to Princeton, Illinois line. This will lead to slick travel and reduced visibilities, which will impact the Friday morning commute. Plan to allow for extra time to reach your destination Friday morning.
